A team of South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division agents are reviewing records from the Charleston Sofa Super Store blaze for signs of criminal negligence on the part of commanders who oversaw the attack on the inferno in which 9 Firefighters who were killed in the Line of Duty.

The Ninth Circuit Solicitor requested the review after meeting with relatives of 2 fallen Firefighters who died in the June 18, 2007, fire. Family members of Captains Louis Mulkey and William Hutchinson gave the Solicitor eight binders of materials they say prove that Fire Command Officers exposed Firefighters to unnecessary and deadly risks with insufficient training and leadership.

A Firefighter has woken from an induced coma after collapsing at a blaze that claimed the life of a woman in southeast Queensland.
A 47-year-old woman died in the blaze at a Surfers Paradise unit Saturday.
The firefighter, in his 30s, collapsed while returning to a safety point after searching for her during the fire. An ambulance took him to Gold Coast Hospital where he was put in an induced coma, but had regained consciousness. The firefighter was reported to be in a satisfactory condition although still not well enough to be discharged.
‘He is conscious, talking and breathing normally,’ the spokesman said.

Kansas City police are investigating an early-morning accident involving a fire truck and a car near the Sprint Center, shortly after roads near the area reopened after closures for the Big 12 tournament.
The accident occurred around 0330 this morning. The driver of the car was using his GPS device when he ran a red light and hit the fire truck.
One of the passengers in the vehicle had a different account of the accident. “We were just coming to the intersection when the fire truck went through, it was a green light, we just smashed into it,” passenger Tim Dennis said. Update to Fire police down at MVA near the PA/MD State Line in Cascade, MD. On February 17th, 2010 while directing traffic at an MVA on Military Road in Cascade, MD I was backed over by a pickup truck hooked to a construction trailer. I had told the driver to remain where he was until I had cleared the traffic from behind him and then I would return to guide him out safely. The driver failed to follow directions and backed over me – breaking both my legs with the right leg being a double compound fracture. The Longport (NJ) VFD Firefighter operating at that structure fire earlier today became unresponsive and went down for a yet disclosed reason. The Firefighter was revived after performing CPR and the use of an AED. That FF is now alive, resting and in stable condition in a nearby hospital. FDNY FIREFIGHTER DOWN: JAMAICA QUEENS 2nd ALARM MAYDAY TRANSMITTED

This afternoon, FDNY had a “mayday” transmitted. When the Chief of the 13th Division arrived on scene of the below fire. he transmitted an urgent message: “A Mayday has been transmitted by Ladder Co. 127″ , and then a 2nd alarm was transmitted. The fire is in Queens at 89th Ave. between 164 and 165 Streets in Jamaica. The fire is on the 2nd and 3rd floors on the exposure 4 side of a six story “H” type building. The Firefighter has been located and is enroute to the hospital by FDNY EMS and is reported to be stable. Companies are still operating.
